UPCOMING EDUCATIONAL EVENTS
Tuesday, September 18 – AM section meeting on Tips to Driving Down Healthcare Costs presented by Billy Potter and Tara Byrd with Snellings Walters at The Houston Club from 11:30am – 12:30pm. As Chair of the 2018 ALA Regional Legal Management Conference Planning Committee, here’s my personal request to you to consider attending the West Conference which takes place in Austin, Texas, October 18-20, 2018. The planning committee has worked very hard to create an outstanding Regional Conference filled with diverse, exciting and high-level innovative educational programs. Additionally, you can take advantage of more than 25 education sessions, BOLD Bites talks, the Exhibit Hall and more opportunities to network with your colleagues and business partners.

Best of all, the Houston Chapter is offering a scholarship for the cost of the early bird registration (that’s $579 folks!) to all members have attended at least two Business Partner events between October 2017 and October 2018. There is still one more Business Partner event coming up on Monday, October 1, so “save the date” now and you can still qualify for that scholarship. To top it off, the Chapter has chartered a bus that can hold 22 members for travel to and from Austin to the Conference, at no cost to you. This perk is available on a first-come, first-serve basis and registration starts on Tuesday, August 21.
CLM STUDY GROUP
The Houston Chapter is pleased to offer a CLM Study Group this fall that is open to any chapter member. You do not have to take the CLM exam in order to participate in the study group. The group will meet weekly at BakerHostetler’s office on Thursday evenings for 8 weeks beginning on Thursday, September 13. Registration for the CLM Study Group will begin on Wednesday, August 21.
FALL BUSINESS PARTNER EVENT
Monday, October 1 – Please join us for a fun event with our 2018 Business Partners at The House of Blues from 5:30pm – 8:30pm. Additional details will be provided soon.
FALL REGIONAL LEGAL MANAGEMENT CONFERENCE BUS REGISTRATIONS
The chapter has chartered a bus that can hold 22 members and will leave Houston at 7:30am on Thursday, October 18 for Austin and will leave to return back to Houston at 2:00pm on Saturday, October 20. To register for the bus, please email Wendy Crane and provide her with a copy of your conference registration confirmation. Bus registrations will be taken on a first come first serve basis and will not be final until you have sent in a copy of your registration confirmation. There is no cost to members to ride the bus, however since we are limited to 24 members, there will be a $50 cancellation fee to anyone that makes a bus registration, cancels and we are unable to fill their space.
2018 HOUSTON CHAPTER COMPENSATION & BENEFITS SURVEY
If you haven’t purchased a copy of the 2018 survey, it’s not too late! Survey reports can be purchased by participating firms for $100 and non-participating firms for $450. Please contact Houston Chapter Manager, Wendy Crane with any questions about the survey or to purchase a copy.
